GDPR Safeguards Notice

01If you may have been searched
Trace is used by verified professionals (investigators, fraud, compliance and legal teams, journalists) to search information that is already available online, for a stated professional purpose. For each search, the professional who ran it decides who is searched and why, and is responsible for having a legal basis and for telling you where the law requires. We provide the tool, its safeguards and a record of searches. We are joint controllers for running a search (GDPR Art. 26); this is the essence of that arrangement.
- We keep a record of every search for 24 months: the date, the type of search, the stated purpose and a one-way fingerprint of what was searched, never the details in readable form and never what was found.
- You can ask us whether you were searched, object to being searched, or ask for the record to be erased where the law allows. Write to contact@trace.expert.
- We answer within one month. We tell you the dates, purposes and types of searches, but not who ran them; we pass your request or objection to them, and they must answer it and stop processing your data where your objection applies.
- Searches on anyone under 18, and use of Trace to stalk, harass or harm someone, are forbidden and refused. Report misuse to contact@trace.expert.
